The wind slabs are mostly small and can be released in isolated cases. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on near-ridge north, northeast and east facing slopes above approximately 2400 m.

Adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. High altitudes and shady slopes: Various wind slab layers are lying on a hard crust. Low and intermediate altitudes: The snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a strong melt-freeze crust. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. Backcountry touring calls for restraint.
