Avalanche Problem
Wind-drifted snow

The conditions are treacherous for backcountry touring outside marked and open pistes.
Wind slabs on east, south and west facing slopes. The wind was moderate to strong in particular on the peaks and ridges of the divide with the Ribagorçana basin and the Pallaresa basin. As a consequence of the northerly wind the wind slabs have increased in size substantially. The fresh wind slabs can be released easily by a single winter sport participant in particular on east to south to west facing aspects and in all altitude zones. In many cases the avalanches in these loacations are medium-sized.

Over a wide area wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. At the southern and eastern borders of Aran as well as at high altitude snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
Backcountry touring calls for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and caution.
Tendency
Gradual decrease in avalanche danger.
