Weakly bonded old snow on wind-protected shady slopes. Moist slab avalanches as the day progresses.
The wind slabs of the weekend are lying on unfavourable layers on wind-protected shady slopes above approximately 2300 m. These can as before be released, even by small loads in isolated cases and reach medium size. As the penetration by moisture increases medium-sized moist slab avalanches are possible. This applies on sunny slopes in all altitude zones, as well as on very steep shady slopes below approximately 2300 m. In addition as the day progresses some small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are to be expected.
Backcountry touring calls for defensive route selection.
Snowpack
>
The old wind slabs are lying on weak layers on wind-protected shady slopes above approximately 2300 m. Field observations and stability tests indicate the unfavourable bonding of the snowpack in these regions. The high humditiy will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack on northeast, south and northwest facing slopes in all altitude zones. At intermediate and high altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. At low altitude from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
Tendency
The danger of dry avalanches will decrease gradually. The danger of moist and wet avalanches will persist.
