The no longer entirely fresh wind slabs of the last few days can still be released in some cases in particular on steep, rather lightly snow-covered northeast, east and south facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. These can in some places be released by people and reach medium size. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at transitions into gullies and bowls. As a consequence of new snow and a light to moderate northwesterly wind, further wind slabs will form towards the evening adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas.
The new snow of the last few days can be released in isolated cases in particular on extremely steep, little used shady slopes. These are rather small.
Gliding avalanches are also to be expected. They can be released at any time of day or night. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep grassy slopes at low and intermediate altitudes. Sometimes the avalanches in these loacations are medium-sized.
The current avalanche situation calls for meticulous route selection.
Snowpack
>
In all altitude zones a very large amount ofsnow is lying for the time of year. The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow significantly. As a consequence of mild temperatures and solar radiation the snowpack settled. The snowpack will be gradually stable. Field observations and unsuccessful avalanche blasting activities confirm this situation.
Tendency
Significant increase in danger of dry avalanches as the snowfall becomes more intense.
