The cold fresh snow and in particular the wind slabs that are being formed by the moderate to strong northwesterly wind can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant, on northeast, southeast and southwest facing slopes at intermediate and high altitudes. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and in the vicinity of peaks. Sometimes the avalanches in these regions are medium-sized.
The new snow can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects below the tree line. The avalanches in these loacations are rather small. Several small natural dry avalanches are possible in steep rocky terrain.
Ski touring and other off-piste activities, including snowshoe hiking, call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and caution.
