Wind-drifted snow

2300m

Gliding snow

2300m

Wind slabs at high altitude. Gliding avalanches can also occur at any time.
Wind slabs at high altitude. The wind slabs are mostly small. These can in isolated cases be released, even by a single winter sport participant. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects above approximately 2300 m.
On very steep sunny slopes small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized gliding avalanches are possible. These avalanche prone locations for gliding avalanches are to be found in particular on grassy slopes below approximately 2300 m.
Snowpack
>
In the southern border of Aran 5 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall above approximately 2000 m. Adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects as well as at high altitude snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. New snow and wind slabs are lying on a moist old snowpack.
Experience in the assessment of avalanche danger is required.
Tendency
The avalanche danger will decrease gradually.
