Avalanche Problem
Wet snow

Wind-drifted snow

2300m

Wind slabs and wet snow require caution. At high altitude a precarious avalanche situation will still be encountered.
The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects and at elevated altitudes. These can in many places be released by a single winter sport participant and reach medium size.
As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized natural moist avalanches are to be expected.
Individual gliding avalanches can also occur.
Snowpack
>
Up to 2300 m rain has fallen. The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2200 m.
The wind was moderate to strong adjacent to ridgelines. In some places various wind slab layers are lying on old snow containing large grains. This applies especially at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions.
Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and a certain restraint.
Tendency
The danger of dry and moist avalanches will decrease gradually.
