Gliding snow

As a consequence of new snow a moderate danger of dry avalanches will be encountered over a wide area.
The cold fresh snow as well as the mostly small wind slabs that are forming adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas are bonding poorly with the old snowpack on very steep east and south facing slopes. Avalanches can to an increasing extent be released by people, but they will be small in most cases.

Individual gliding avalanches can also occur. The avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep grassy slopes below approximately 2200 m. The avalanches in these loacations are medium-sized.

Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for meticulous route selection. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.
Snowpack
>
The new snow of the weekend has bonded quite well with the old snowpack.

10 to 15 cm of snow will fall in the next few hours. This snow and the mostly small wind slabs will be deposited on a crust in all aspects and in all altitude zones.

Shady slopes intermediate and high altitudes: Towards its base, the snowpack is weak. In these regions the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach a dangerous size.

In places that are protected from the wind a lot of snow is lying for the time of year in all altitude zones. In particular at high altitude snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
Tendency
Significant increase in danger of dry avalanches as the snowfall becomes more intense.
